How
can the phone be free?
Mobile phones can cost up to several hundred pounds but you can
get them for free. This is because the network you connect to signs
you up for a 12 month contract and so is guaranteed 12 months of
your business. The network then subsidises the cost of the phone,
sometimes up to 100%.
Is
there a contract?
You will usually be required to sign up for a 12 month minimum contract.
After that it is generally 30 days notice if you wish to cancel.
What
should I look out for?
Make sure you get a tariff that suits you. There's no point in having
750 off-peak minutes every month if all your calls are made peak
time. Think about how you'll use the phone and work out the best
economy tariff.
What
kind of mobile can I get?
This usually depends on the retailer and the tariff you sign up
to. Almost all phones can be found free if you search round all
the retailers. Even phones like the Motorola T720i or the Nokia
8310 are available. Have a look here
to see what free mobile
phones are available.
Is
there a credit check?
Yes, you will usually have to pass a credit check before your phone
is despatched. If you don't have good credit, you'll have to look
into buying a pay-as-you-go phone.

I get an upgrade?
